Our Founders Style Guide: Rose / 085

As the founder and designer of Sabi The Label, my approach to fashion is deeply rooted in both aesthetics and function. The garments I create are a reflection of my belief that when you look good, you feel good—that’s a universal feeling, right? Today, I’m sharing how I styled the Rose / 085 vest, a piece meticulously designed to combine structure, elegance, and versatility, with a few of my favourite wardrobe staples.
For this look, I chose pieces that complement the technical precision and design philosophy behind the Rose / 085 vest:
Rose / 085 Vest: With a focus on refined tailoring and impeccable fit. Handmade in Melbourne Australia from premium deadstock fabric, the vest features a structured silhouette that accentuates the waist and elongates the torso. Finished with small but considered design elements like vertically sewn chocolate brown ribbon to outline to bodies natural movement and repurpose offcuts from our Melissa Skirt as the frill neck and arm trimmings.
Vintage Issey Miyake Shirt: This is the only white button down collared shirt I own, and for good reason. Known for his architectural approach to fashion, Miyake’s use of pleating and fabric manipulation adds a unique texture that contrasts beautifully with the smooth, tailored lines of the Rose / 085. The shirt’s lightweight material drapes elegantly, providing an airy feel that balances the more structured vest. It’s a piece that speaks to the harmony between form and function, much like the vest itself.
Old Pajama Shorts: To add a touch of playful irreverence, I opted for some old, very worn and probably dirty pajama shorts. Their relaxed fit and soft fabric offer a comfortable base, creating an interesting juxtaposition against the more formal elements of the outfit. This choice highlights the versatility of the vest, showing how it can be dressed down while still maintaining its refined appeal.
DAL Stockings: My new DAL stockings - generously gifted by fellow female owner/founder, Pixie - are an essential part of this look, offering a subtle sheen and smooth finish that enhances the overall silhouette. The detailed logo monogram gives texture and adds a layer of sophistication, ensuring that even the smallest details are considered.
Vintage Dior Saddle Bag: My favourite designer piece in my wardrobe. A classic accessory that complements the outfit’s blend of modern and vintage elements. Its iconic shape and brown neutrals are luxurious and timeless, echoing the enduring appeal of well-designed garments like the Rose / 085 vest. Need I say more?
The way I dress directly impacts how I feel and, consequently, how productive I am throughout the day. Wearing the Rose / 085 vest, with its precise tailoring and construction, helps me channel this professional, powerful, yet elegant, soft and calm energy I need to tackle my day with confidence. When you feel good in what you’re wearing, it translates into a more positive mindset and greater productivity. Dressing for the energy you want to feel isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about setting the tone for your day.
I hope this style guide inspires you to think more deeply about how the garments you choose can influence your day. Remember, when you look good, you feel good—that’s a universal feeling, right? By selecting pieces that align with the energy you want to project, you can set yourself up for success, both personally and professionally.
